“ROOTS TO WINGS“ is an interactive musical program between the Galena Street East performers and the audience. It is primarily designed for elementary school assemblies. This exciting presentation entertains, educates and inspires the spectator to develop a pride and respect for diverse ethnic backgrounds from around the world. When we learn about our own heritage, we respect ourselves and find beauty in many different individuals. Let us take courage to make good decisions, broaden our horizons and soar on wings to greater heights. We want to inspire the students to discover their own family history.
We offer two separate assemblies: (1) for primary grades; and (2) for grades 4th through 6th.
Our website will give you a flavor of the level of talent and good-will that GSE generates for California. While there visit the Teachers Corner for supplemental material for teachers to use before and after the “Roots to Wings” school shows. It is our desire to inspire the students to find out more about their own family history. Sharing the beauty of all cultures is one of our goals .

International Festival Director, Hana Virglerova, said “Galena Street East is the most thrilling group to dance and sing at our festival. We were amazed at your fast and colorful costume changes and we especially loved the clogging. The Irish dancers reminded us of Riverdance. You gave us a refreshing look at American youth at their best!” This article about us is by the Sacramento Press: http://sacramentopress.com/2012/12/13/galena-street-easts-holiday-tapestry-is-youthful-homage-to-welk-williams/
