A Dream Becomes a Reality... Galena Street East is a non-profit organization established in 1972 to develop young artists by giving them the opportunity to perform and use their talents to enrich their lives and those of the community. Galena's professionally-trained artists perform for conventions, schools, and social organizations. The organization also provides music scholarships for its members. Each year, Galena Street East Touring Company represents Sacramento as Performing Ambassadors on a people-to-people goodwill performing tour. In 1984, Galena represented California as performing ambassadors in Taiwan. In 1985, they toured Europe and in 1986, they performed in the South Pacific. In 1988, Galena was selected to perform at the World Expo in Brisbane and helped in celebrating Australia's Bicentennial. In addition to touring in countries closer to home, such as Mexico and the Caribbean, the group has performed at Disneyland, Disney World, the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii, for the Washington D.C. Bicentennial, the California State Fair, and the Sacramento Rail Fair. In the summer of 1996, Galena performed at the International Youth Festival in Germany and in 1997, took a patriotic tour through the Eastern United States. In 1998, their summer tour of the United Kingdom included performances in England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. The 1999 tour took them to Hawaii and in 2000, they went to Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. In 2001, Galena was privileged to perform at our nation's capitol for the
July 4th festivities, as well as New York City
